If you only remember one buying rule: the Kyogre Illustration Rare is the reason to want the Elite Trainer Box. It was cut from the English main set. Packs will not replace it.

2. What Delta Reign Is

Pokémon Mega Evolution Delta Reign booster bundle, booster display, and Rayquaza Elite Trainer Box against a dark teal background

Delta Reign is a Standard-legal main set, not a special illustration subset and not a reprint-only collection. The official blurb is short and specific: a thunderous roar heralds Mega Rayquaza ex, with Mega Golurk ex, Mega Malamar ex, and Mega Golisopod ex beside it. Prevailing winds lead to legendary places and emerald-colored storms.

The theme is the return of Mega Rayquaza. The last Mega Rayquaza cards in the physical TCG were in the XY era, in Ancient Origins and Roaring Skies, both from 2015. That gap is why this set is drawing preorder attention that the average Mega Evolution expansion has not.

English Delta Reign was first revealed on June 18, 2026, the same day as Japan’s Storm Emeralda and the Rayquaza-themed TCG Pocket set Ruler of the Skies. The full English product line was shown in late August 2026. Pokémon Center preorders for select products opened on September 30, 2026.

3. Delta Reign Release Dates

  1. June 18, 2026. Set name, November window, and Mega Rayquaza theme first shown.
  2. July 31, 2026. Storm Emeralda releases in Japan. Most of the English card pool has been public since this date.
  3. August 20, 2026. English product lineup, ETB promo, and rarity breakdown published.
  4. September 28, 2026. Prerelease promos revealed: Masquerain, Magmortar, Enamorus, and Kommo-o, each an alternate art of a card in the set.
  5. September 30, 2026. Pokémon Center preorders open for the Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box, booster bundle, and booster box.
  6. October 24–November 1, 2026. Prerelease events at local game stores. This is the window for Build & Battle play, not launch day.
  7. November 5, 2026. Delta Reign goes live in Pokémon TCG Live.
  8. November 6, 2026. Worldwide retail release for boosters, Elite Trainer Boxes, bundles, and blisters.

Some distributor sheets list the Build & Battle Box as a November 20 retail follow-up, after the prerelease window. If you want that kit for the sealed promo, confirm the date with your store. Prerelease play itself is still October 24 through November 1.

4. How Big Delta Reign Is

Overlapping Pokémon Delta Reign cards featuring Mega Rayquaza ex, Mega Malamar ex, and the Legendary Summit Stadium card

The Pokémon Company has not published a final English number. The official wording is “over 135 cards,” with more than 20 Trainer cards and more than 35 cards that use special illustration treatments. Treat any exact total you see online as provisional until the set list PDF drops.

  • 4 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex
  • 6 other Pokémon ex
  • 3 Legendary Stadiums, printed as 6 Stadium cards
  • 14 illustration rare Pokémon
  • 17 ultra rare Pokémon and Trainer cards
  • 6 special illustration rare Pokémon and Supporter cards

English numbering on revealed cards uses a /103 base, which points to a 103-card main set plus secret rares. Japan’s Storm Emeralda is smaller on its own. Delta Reign is larger because it also folds in unique cards from the MEGA Starter Decks (Eevee ex, Zoroark ex, and Meowscarada ex). One Pokémon ex from those decks is expected to be left out of the English set. That cut is not confirmed.

Revealed English names already include Masquerain, Sprigatito, Floragato, Meowscarada, Growlithe, Arcanine, Heat Rotom, Wishiwashi, Electivire, Jolteon, Raikou, Thundurus, Pincurchin, Groudon, Landorus, Zarude, Druddigon, Kommo-o, Eevee, Delibird, Tornadus, and the four Mega Evolution ex. Zinnia’s Trust is in as a Supporter. Zinnia is the Draconid tied to Rayquaza in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

5. The Four Mega Evolution ex Cards

Mega Golisopod ex, Mega Golurk ex, Mega Malamar ex, and Mega Rayquaza ex cards displayed side by side against a dark teal background

These are the only Pokémon the English product pages name outright. Numbers are from revealed English cards and can still be adjusted before the set list PDF.

Card Revealed number Type HP
Mega Golisopod ex 011/103 Grass 340
Mega Golurk ex 047/103 Psychic 350
Mega Malamar ex 069/103 Darkness 320
Mega Rayquaza ex 084/103 Colorless 280

Mega Rayquaza ex is a Basic Mega Evolution ex. On the Japanese Storm Emeralda print it has 280 HP, the Mega Evolution ex rule, an Ability called Ruler’s Roar, and an attack called Storm Emeralda. Ruler’s Roar, once during your turn when you play it from your hand to the Bench, looks at the top four cards of your deck, attaches a Basic Energy from among them, and puts the rest on the bottom. Storm Emeralda does 50 damage for each Fire Energy and each Lightning Energy attached to all of your Pokémon. English wording can still be tightened before print. The HP and the mixed Fire/Lightning cost are the parts worth planning around.

A Mega Rayquaza Cap Pokémon Tool is in the Japanese set and is expected in English. Combined with Ruler’s Roar, it is why competitive players are already treating this as more than a collector set. The English Tool is not locked until the set list PDF.

6. Legendary Stadiums

Legendary Pyroduct and Legendary Summit Stadium card pairs displayed side by side, each forming a connected illustration

A Legendary Stadium is two Stadium cards that share a name and form one continuous illustration when placed side by side. You play them as a pair. Because both halves share a name, four cards is two pairs. The normal four-copy rule still applies. It is not a two-copy card.

Any Delta Reign pack that contains a Legendary Stadium contains both halves. You should not have to trade for the other piece of a pair you pulled.

Three pairs are in the set. The first revealed in English is Legendary Summit, numbered 096/103 and 097/103. Its reported effect: when a Colorless Pokémon, yours or your opponent’s, is Knocked Out by damage from an attack, the player who Knocked it Out takes one fewer Prize card. A second pair, Legendary Trench, is numbered 098/103 and 099/103. The third pair had not been fully detailed in English as of October 9, 2026.

The art only reads correctly as a pair, so a binder page that keeps both halves next to each other is the right storage plan. A side-loading 9-pocket binder does that without metal rings near the cards. The binder guide compares zipper, strap, and toploader binders.

7. Delta Reign Chase Cards

Caninos, Pincurchin, Eevee, and Raikou ex illustrated Pokémon cards displayed side by side against a dark teal background

The chase is not close. In Storm Emeralda, Mega Rayquaza ex occupies the top of the market in both Special Illustration Rare and Mega Ultra Rare form. Late September 2026 Japanese tracking put the Mega Ultra Rare near $900, with the Special Illustration Rare several hundred dollars behind it and still clear of every other card in the set. English prices will not copy those numbers on day one. The ranking should. Rayquaza SIR and the gold Mega Ultra Rare are the cards people will open this set to find.

The next tier, based on the Japanese print, is Raikou ex special art, Zinnia’s Trust special art, Mega Golisopod ex special art, and Mega Golurk ex special art. Zinnia’s Trust is the Trainer card most likely to matter to players and collectors at the same time.

Pull rates are not published. Do not budget a box around hitting the Mega Ultra Rare. A 36-pack booster box is the best per-pack sample of the set. It is still a long shot.

What is inside the Delta Reign Elite Trainer Box

The standard Delta Reign Elite Trainer Box includes:

  • 9 Mega Evolution—Delta Reign booster packs
  • 1 full-art foil promo: Kyogre Illustration Rare
  • 65 card sleeves in the set design
  • 40 Pokémon TCG Energy cards
  • A player’s guide to the expansion
  • 6 damage-counter dice
  • 1 competition-legal coin-flip die
  • 1 plastic coin
  • A collector’s box with 6 dividers
  • A code card for Pokémon TCG Live

The Kyogre promo is an Illustration Rare, reported as Mega Evolution promo MEP 117, illustrated by Nurikabe. It is a Basic Water Pokémon at 150 HP with Waterfall and Brutal Whirlpool. Both ETB versions use this artwork. The Pokémon Center copy carries the Pokémon Center stamp and is the one that usually separates on the secondary market. The promo number is as printed on listings, not a number on the Pokémon.com set page.

The Pokémon Center box includes 11 packs, a stamped Kyogre, and a second unstamped Kyogre. Trust that page if the contents change.

9. Should You Buy Delta Reign, and Which Product

Buy at MSRP if you can. Do not pay launch-week preorder multiples for a main set that has not shipped.

As of late September 2026, secondary preorders had the standard ETB well above the $49.99 list price, and the Pokémon Center ETB several times its $59.99 list. That is the normal pattern for a Rayquaza-led set before allocation. It is also the pattern that faded on recent Mega Evolution releases once product landed. Delta Reign can stay hotter because of the Mega Ultra Rare, and it can still reprice down from today’s asks. Those are both true.

  • Booster box at MSRP if the goal is opening for Mega Rayquaza ex. Thirty-six packs is the largest sealed sample.
  • Elite Trainer Box at MSRP if you want the Kyogre promo, sleeves, and a box worth keeping sealed. This is the best gift in the line.
  • Pokémon Center ETB at $59.99 if you can check out. Two extra packs, a stamped promo, and a standard promo for ten dollars over the standard box is the best value in the set, and it is the first SKU to sell out.
  • Booster bundle if you want a small open without accessory cost. At list it is the same $4.49 a pack as the booster box.
  • Build & Battle only if you are playing prerelease. The promo is event-tied. The packs-per-dollar are worse than a bundle.
  • Nothing far above list unless you are keeping a sealed Pokémon Center ETB and you already know why. A standard ETB at more than about 1.5x list is a bet that allocation fails, not a deal.

Pokémon Center preorders opened September 30 with stated limits: two on the Pokémon Center ETB, one on the booster box, one on the booster bundle. Those limits are the allocation signal. Big third-party asks above that are not.

10. How to Store the ETB, the Promo, and the Hits

Pokémon Center Mega Evolution Delta Reign Elite Trainer Box inside a clear protective display case

Delta Reign is a display set. The box art is the product for a lot of collectors, and the cardboard on a modern ETB is not archival. Shelf light fades the yellow Pokémon logo band and the green Rayquaza ink first. A sealed ETB also weighs more than a booster box because of the book, dice, and Energy stack, so a thin case bows.

If the box is staying sealed, use a case cut for the ETB, not a booster-box case. A standard modern Elite Trainer Box case is about 19.2 × 17 × 9.2 cm inside. The Pokémon ETB acrylic display case is that size. A sealed booster box uses the Pokémon booster box acrylic display case, which is smaller and will not take the ETB. The Pokémon card storage guide covers sealed versus raw.

If you open it, split the pulls into three piles before they hit a desk.

  1. Bulk and Energy. Deck box or a spare ETB tray. Do not sleeve the Energy unless you play with it.
  2. Set cards and illustration rares. Penny sleeve first, then a side-loading binder. Never put a raw card straight into a pocket. Standard card sleeves at 66 × 92 mm are the outer layer for English Pokémon cards.
  3. Kyogre promo, special illustration rares, and anything you might grade. Sleeve, then a 35pt toploader. A 9-pocket toploader binder keeps a Rayquaza SIR and the Kyogre promo on one page without stacking hard plastic.

Two mistakes specific to this set: separating a Legendary Stadium pair, and leaving the ETB promo loose in the tray. Store 096 with 097, and the same for the other pairs. Illustration rares scuff on the cardboard divider. Sleeve the Kyogre the day you open the box.

11. What Is Still Unconfirmed

As of October 9, 2026:

  • The final English card count and the full numbered list
  • Exact English text on Mega Rayquaza ex, beyond the Japanese print and the revealed 280 HP
  • The third Legendary Stadium’s English name and effect
  • Which starter-deck Pokémon ex is cut
  • Pull rates
  • Street price after the first restock

When the official set list PDF lands, this page gets updated. Until then, a site quoting a complete 1-through-135 English gallery is ahead of the primary source.
